Nacogdoches Railroad Depot
The Nacogdoches Railroad Depot was built by Southern Pacific Railroad in 1911 after the original wooden depot burned to the ground following a lightening strike. This Depot transported goods, passengers and even soldiers from Nacogdoches to places far and wide before discontinuing passenger service in 1954. The Nacogdoches Railroad Depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 and is now home to a transportation museum that chronicles the rich history of the railroad and its passengers. Inside the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot is a complete museum exhibit that shares the story of the railroad, the passengers and those who worked on the railroad. The Nacogdoches Railroad Depot is open Thursday-Saturday 10am to 4pm, and is free to tour.
